1536GB of DDR4 ECC server RAM is somewhere between $4000-6000 USD used right now, by the time you put in parallel enough NVME SSD to approach good speeds, you'd be approaching that (and also likely running out of PCI-E bus lanes directly attached to the same motherboard to reasonably do so).
Can confirm in the Netherlands also. I'm not an influencer so I don't know exactly, but a few years ago there was either a crackdown, an expansion of the rules, or at least a big media campaign by the government to make the influences that focus on a Dutch audience aware of the rules surrounding promoted content
There are no stated reasons from the developer. So I could be right or wrong. No one knows. Literally the whole thread is people speculating or making random comments about Minecraft and I'm being shit on for the most plausible theory backed up by bug reports here.
Java edition still horribly underperforms. It’s mostly single-threaded and even if they’ve rewritten the lighting engine a few times (those decade old black-block bugs disappeared), the Sodium family of mods show you how much it can be improved.
Bedrock has much better performance so it was used for consoles, but there were already hundreds of thousands of mods for Java edition, thus the split.
And also it has worse performance than Java if you just install a basic optimization modpack like Adrenaline on Java, which many players do. There's effectively ~zero reason to use Bedrock if you're on PC.
And I would also prefer if the link went to https://github.com/dakra/ghostel
instead of the documentation which is not that helpful if you don't know what the project is.
It's a weird flex to insist that the titles should always be extremely descriptive. It is already meaningful for the respected audience. Otherwise you can endlessly argue that a florist may not understand what "terminal" and "emulator" are, therefore it should be more descriptive for an occasional florist vising HN. For anyone who doesn't know what .el stands for, they'd click, see it's about Emacs and if not interested - close the tab and forget about it. Takes maybe a second. Not even a smallest imaginable deal - not big at all.
