While I do agree with you (and unlike the other reply, I want to acknowledge that this bad-faith kind of thing happened with Louisiana declaring law enforcement a protected class), my hope was that this would have happened via Dominion's civil lawsuit, which could have been structured to name anchors & reporters individually as well as the larger Fox News organization.

> Name me something a product, not a service which you can only subscribe in Apple's ecosystem.

The shows on Apple TV are only available via a subscription; there's no way to have a perpetual purchase (at least as far as that a la carte style of purchase is perpetual).

They specifically said “not a service” and you brought up a service.

I would argue a season or episode of television is a product, and Apple TV gates them behind a subscription.

I used to buy the season passes so I could return to shows later; that's not an option for ATV stuff.

Unlikely -- this pack was created for the latest revision of the "Ironwail" source port, and that only supports Windows & Linux.

And if the rumors are right -- that hardware SVP John Ternus is next in line for CEO -- I could see a world where the company doubles-down on their specialized hardware vs. services.

They’ve done a dip-in-a-toe thing many times, then gave up.

If I was in charge of a business, and I’m an Apple fan, I wouldn’t touch them. I’d have no faith they’re in it for the long term. I think that would be a common view.

Arena shooters have been relegated to side modes in other, bigger games. Probably the last big shooter with that as its focus was Halo: Infinite, but that struggled to stay relevant and its next big update will be its last.

Splitgate captures the feel nicely. Simple, fast, and last I checked free. Very recommended.

UT3 was a dismal failure both critically and commercially, while Gears of War was a huge success. Epic rode that for a while as they worked on Fortnite, and then they put out the battle royale mode in 2017 and the thing took off.

UT2004 (and its Xbox counterpart Unreal Championship 2) were great experiences. UT3 tried to set itself apart by tuning its pace significantly higher, and it lost its audience, and UT2016 was never going to be a significant title given its development history.

Not just working, but it actually ran better in Linux for me -- my university-mandated laptop could only run it at 1280x800 in Windows if you wanted to hit 60fps, but the Linux client was able to run at the panel's native 1920x1200.

It'll never happen for a whole bunch of reasons, but a phone with Apple's hardware, Valve's OS, and Nintendo's game library would be amazing.

You can get 2/3rds of that with a steam deck.

This is really the endgame, I think. A modern smartphone with a controller attached is effectively the same as a Steam Deck or Switch 2, just with a different OS. Apple has been pushing higher-end games on phones lately (this year has seen iOS versions of Hitman 3, Sniper Elite 4, and Subnautica), and reports are that the new pro phones run them well (the limiting factor being thermal load).

A phone that can run my Steam library is super-compelling -- I travel a decent amount, so being able to chuck something smaller like a Backbone One in my bag vs. a Steam Deck would be a meaningful change.
