It was slow / having issues as in the afternoon, but my last deployment was 6:59pm CST, and it at least responded at 7:43pm CST with a failed deployment. Between those time blocks the entire thing went down. Sites are up, but you can't authenticate with the CLI tools, or get a log in / dashboard with web.
Yes it is. Bearer relies on client side instrumentation. Today that is limited to just Node.js and Ruby applications. While we also support client side instrumentation, the proxy is an important element in our offering because it is language agnostic and enables a new class features that can only be implemented in the proxy (e.g. caching).
Indeed Bearer.sh works as a package (Gem, NPM) inside your application, and it automatically instruments your HTTP stack, meaning there are zero-code changes to do on your existing integrations to make it works instantly.
But more interestingly, since we're not a proxy at all, it means you don't have to trust us to deliver that very important API traffic of yours (who would?), offer a sub-millisecond impact on your performance and works with any public, private or crazy certificate or IP restricted APIs! APIs are a liability and dependence to your app, let's not add us to that list!

You said it better than I did. That was one of the issues we ran into since we have third party APIs that require IP whitelisting, certs and VPNs, a proxy just won't work in that instance. Can't wait for the Python implementation...
Having lived here for the past few years, originally from the Midwest in an area much different than SF, my best take on the younger generation working in tech is that most do not hold strong views in terms of fiscal policies and generally equate politics to social issues. There is a fear of not being "politically correct" and offending someone. Most do not actually care and just lean with the side of least resistance.
I agree, Ethereum is an example of something that took the concepts underpinning Bitcoin: distributed immutable legder and verifiable trust and created an platform that I think can be very interesting for building decentralized marketplaces.
The technology is new so there are going to be hurdles but in terms of scaling and obviously a lot of speculation, but I think there are also a lot of socio/geopolitical factors that will continue to make cryptocurrencies a thing.
