Since there are zillions of Model Ys out there, what will the replacement battery market look like when mine finally fails in n more years? Will there be relatively inexpensive batteries with the same kWh as mine? Will there be more expensive batteries with more or much more storage available? I guess I'll find out.
There's already a secondhand market that replaces and upgrades Nissan Leaf batteries.
Same goes for Teslas. The official Tesla service will always replace the whole slab for massive $$$$. Smaller independent shops (mostly self-taught currently) can replace individual failed blocks from donor batteries pretty cheaply. (Less money than an head gasket change or a clutch replacement.)
Nice! I am going to give it a try for my Sierra Nevada foothills location. On cooler mornings I tend to add a light Smartwool beanie and a second shirt layer (long sleeve over short sleeve), weights according to my feelings about the temperature.
I don't want to give up caffeine, but I have my two shots before 7 or 8am and that's it for caffeine. You didn't mention alcohol, maybe you aren't a drinker? Giving up alcohol for ~4 days definitely improves my sleep - no 2am wakeups, more dreams - but then it's the weekend again, whoops. If I can't fall back asleep after around 15-30 minutes, I get up and read for an hour; that always works. I try to think in terms of sleep cycles - did I get enough? can I get one more? I'm surprised a sleep mask doesn't improve sleep onset. I am addicted to my scarf eye cover's total darkness.
haha I should have scrolled before commenting. I brought up the alcohol thing too. totally agree.
the sleep mask/something over the eyes was a huge thing for me about 5 years ago (that lasted about 5 years prior) and even now I have blackout curtains, though they don't fully block light on the edges. but if you're like me, you'll eventually ween off the eye covering without noticing why.
Perfect timing - I just finished John McPhee’s wonderful “Assembling California”. It goes into quite a bit of detail of how California came together, and includes some history of tectonic plate theory, the gold rush, and quite a lot more.
