Please don't fulminate or advocate violence here. HN is not the place for this kind of rhetoric. You may not owe federal government agents better, but you owe the HN community better if you want to participate here. We've had to ask you many times to observe the guidelines. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

Then what place is? Genuine question. It seems like not a single such place remains, intentionally, as the owners of all these places decided in their group Whatsapp chat when it turned out the majority of the population rightly understood the United Healthcare case was a net positive to society.

While of course turning a blind eye to the exact same rhetoric when "ICE Agent" is ctrl+r'ed by "Russian soldier".

We make a point of not moderating HN in that way. The guidelines are clear that HN is for curious conversation not waging battle, and idealizing violence is never OK here, no matter the nationality of the imagined target. We consider this important because we want this to be a place where people from all countries can participate in discussions as individuals and not feel threatened with violence because of where they were born.

Please don't post low-substance comments like this on HN. The guidelines make it clear we're trying for something better here. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

This is bog standard moderation. A repost of a topic within a year of the original submission is considered a duplicate [1].

A new submission is only warranted and allowed if there is “significant new information” - e.g., a major upgrade or announcement.

Three months ago we had another huge discussion about Bitchat in Gaza [2], which qualified due to having “significant new information”.

dupes and disallowing new comments are at odds for discussion unless the goal is to have someone re-review the topic then write a new article for submission.

If there is something new and interesting to say about the topic, someone should absolutely publish it and submit it to HN, and we would welcome it and expect it to inspire a great discussion.

This is one of the least controversial or difficult moderation principles on HN.

Awesome, thank you very much!

Please don't use uppercase for emphasis. If you want to emphasize a word or phrase, put *asterisks* around it and it will get italicized.

https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html

And you can escape asterisks using backslashes:

Italic

*Escaped asterisks*

\*Double-Escaped asterisks\*

  *Italic*

  \*Escaped asterisks\*

  \\*Double-Escaped asterisks\\*
(tomhow seems to have goofed his escapes above. As I've done many times myself...)

GP comment since corrected, for the curious. And/or future me.
