I write a doc about achievement/things done in 3-months timeframe. This helps me put into perspective what activites I actually pursued instead of what activities I wished to pursue.
After that, it's stoicism mostly which helps me put into perspective things I can change and things I cannot.
Why are you trying to avoid reflecting on past failures? The pain from this is an important part of goalsetting and moving forward. Whatever you do, be kind on yourself, but absolutely be honest about the fact that you dropped the ball this year.
Next year is an opportunity to do better. Who knows– it might even be the best year of your life.
