Namma Yatri – How open source is building inclusion, fairness in India (deccanherald.com)

For the uninitiated, namma yatri is built on an open platform ONDC[0] (which itself is supported by the Govt of India) . There are parallels between ONDC and UPI. UPI has made inroads by removing Visa/Mastercard fees for merchants. With Namma Yatri (and by extension ONDC), the aim is to remove/reduce dependence on Uber/Ola so that the service providers (cab drivers) get more revenue and presumably commuters get lower prices.

A bit of anecdata: I booked an Uber back in Bengaluru a month ago. the driver was on Namma Yatri as well. I asked how things were. He said he's making more on Uber because of incentives. I presume Uber incentives are powered by IPO/VC money. Interesting to see how this will play out once Uber decides to stop burning money
