Him then immediately doubling down and finally killing his marriage isn’t a shock. I both admire and detest the son for sticking with his Dad, the other family members being done is probably a more healthy approach.

Wouldn't you say that the approach taken by the son is what we need as a society though? polarization and parallel-universes do not seem to be helping at all.
